I stopped eating animal flesh in 2006. It was an ethical stand that I had taken at that time. During the same time, I learned about the cruel industries - Dairy and Eggs. However, I continued eating dairy and eggs for the next 10 years because I thought that if I did not eat "at least" dairy and eggs, then my health would be compromised. In 2016, I became a part of the Vegan Community in Singapore and met some wonderful people who showed me the way to become a vegan. I acquired a certification on the subject and decided to go vegan along with my husband and my daughter who was 3.5 years old at that time. Surprisingly, the health condition that I was facing for a long time - Hypothyroidism - was reversed when I followed a well-balanced whole food plant-based diet. That was the beginning of my vegan journey which has brought me to this place today.
An IT business analyst by profession, now I am a social entrepreneur, speaker, and educator in the field of a plant-based lifestyle.
Through my enterprise Vegan Keno, I give talks and conduct workshops educating people about the health, environmental and moral benefits of eating a plant-based diet. I'm certified in Whole Food Plant-based Nutrition as well as Food and Sustainability from eCornell. Every time someone tells me that they got inspired by attending my talks or workshops, I feel reassured that the world is changing sooner than ever.
Through my talks, workshops, and social media, I am trying to reach out to as many people as I can to help them understand why eating a diet rich in plants is the best for them, the planet, and our fellow earthlings. A few negatives have been on my social front. However, mostly, my experiences have been good. I try not to retain a lot of bad experiences in my mind because they are counterproductive to the cause of veganism.
I believe we are the first generation who have rebelled against violence done to the most sidelined sector of our society. We are making history. Let's be on the right side of history because the future is vegan.
